Personal Summary:
David Archer began his training in Lubbock, TX under Bob Potter and Rick Vaughn in1968. He later trained with Skipper Mullins, Demetrias Havanus, Phil Wilmon, Dennis and Ronnie Cox, Max Alsup, Bill Kent, Joe Alvarado, Louis Arnold, Raymond McCallum and others. He was best known for his kicking ability and as a top tournament competitor. He taught in Texas Karate Institute studios under Allen R. Steen for 5 years before moving to Austin and later to Midland to teach in karate clubs there.
David competed in over 50 tournaments, winning or placing in 42. He opened and/or started (6) Tae Kwon Do studios.
Education:
2001 - 6th Degree Black Belt at the Celebrity Dan Test at the Living Legends Black Nationals on September 28, 2001. Instructor, Tim Kirby.
1986 - 3rd Degree Black Belt under Master Un Yong Kim, President of the World Tae Kwon Do Fereration and Master Roy Kurban in September 1986. Instructors, Dennis Gotcher and Roy Kurban.
1976 - 2nd Degree Black Belt under Master Allen R. Steen in Dallas, Texas. Instructors, Skipper Mullins and others.
1970--1st Degree Black Belt under Rick Vaughn and Master Allen R. Steen in Lubbock, Texas. Instructors, Rick Vaughn, Bob Potter and Skipper Mullins.
Martial Arts Instruction:
1970 - 1973: Taught classes at the Texas Karate Institute in Lubbock for Master Allen R. Steen.
1973 - 1976: Opened the Texas Karate Institute in Richardson, Texas and Waco, Texas as program director for Master Allen R. Steen. Managed and instructed in the Waco location.
1976 - 1978: Opened Archer's Tae Kwon Do Club at Northcross Mall in Austin, Texas teaching college students.
1978 - 1984: Opened karate classes at the Midlander in Midland, Texas teaching all ages.
1984 - 1986: Opened and taught at Southwest Tae Kwon Do Studios, Inc. teaching all ages and ranks.
1986 - 1988: Taught small group in Cleburne, Texas and trained privately.
1999 - Present: Teaching a mixed class of all ages at Kirby's Karate and Fitness in Round Rock, Texas.
